May 11th, 2011 Award-winning songwriter, former Bozemanite, Montana State University alum Jessica Kilroy will be in town to celebrate and promote the release of "In the Air," the second album from Pterodactyl Plains, her experimental avante-folk band, with a free in-store performance at Cactus Records & Gifts on Saturday, March 12, at 4 p.m. Pterodactyl Plains' music is a departure from Kilroy's previous work, ignoring the boundaries of the traditional folk and bluegrass songwriting she is known for. Here, Kilroy writes and arranges songs to accompany fellow Trego, Montana band-mate Kier Atherton's alien-like sound production that combines electronica, world, noise-rock and spoken-word, transposing lush instrumentation and soaring strings over primal drum beats and dizzying, swirling arrangements. The release of their 1st album on the digital music outlet www.whatcd.com saw their music explode virally, with press and praise coming from around the world. LastFM in Brazil said "If Heaven were a music it would sound like this."
